I just purchased this app based on the other reviews I inputted all my information and only get one bar chart depicting my savings figure After reviewing the information under the help tab it does not help with how to access my forecast based on today s information or what if scenarios The developer s contact email is not working Giving the benefit of doubt the new iOS upgrade maybe the Issue Nevertheless I just wasted 4 99     Useless and no developer support ColoHarleyGirl

Comprehensive detailed incredibly easy to use The output is clear compelling watch your balances grow and shrink over time pre and post retirement sometimes dramatically with small changes in inputs assumptions and presented in a variety of formats dynamic bar chart and detailed table with input and output values for each year of remaining lifetime The model not only shows the accumulation of savings and earnings on both tax shelterd investments and taxable returns net any withdrawals post retirement and after social security is retirement income is factored in it also takes into account required IRA distributions after age 70 1 2 You can play with inputs assumptions and immediately see the results and you can save different scenarios for future reference You can include non recurring expenditures and life events Oh yes and you can email results This is a full featured and very powerful app way more than adequate for probably 95 of the population and useful at any age It s more user friendly and much more reasonably priced than anything else that I ve encountered The developer is responsive and keeps the app current with updates as needed and even answers stupid questions with good humor and grace                     Brilliant karmacoins

I have been spending years refining my financial event planning model in Excel I wanted 2 things verify that my model is accurate and a better quicker visual way to do what ifs I entered all my assumptions into the App The Graph showing when my money would run out matched my spreadsheet to the year My spreadsheet is much more detailed on tax calculations so I basically had to guess a effective tax for both Fed and State and entered that Features that would be nice Store results on DropBox such that the different devices can access the scenarios Separate Fed and State Tax input A program for the mac I d pay up to 40 00 if it was bug free I think of events as objects that I would like to cut and paste My current method is to list all kinds of events on yellow sticky notes Then for a what if scenario I set them along a timeline Then I enter that into the App If the App could have that kind of concept that would be cool I was annoyed about the limit of 3 what if scenarios but I got over it                     Matches my home brew Excel Spreadsheet NoDTMF

Wow the author is so responsive She answers every email and updates the app with every iOS update so I never have to worry about this app This app is more full featured than anything our there I can imagine every possibility and then change things around to try some more It even let s me see what would happen if there was another big market crash I frequently adjust my plan and use the other two free plans for my parents retirement Every field is editable and gives immediate feedback when I use it to see what my retirement will look like                     Great value Kurald

First things first if you are looking for an app that takes into account as many variables as possible for retirement this is the app People interested in this app have probable used many other retirement calculators However it seems that other calculators each have a shortfall For example some won t let you set the yearly increase in your savings rate it might be fixed to inflation while others simply don t let you adjust other variables such as retirement income or rate of return This app will let you do all of this and then some as you can account for major purchases pension income college expenses inheritances one time expenses and more Honestly the only possible recommendation to improve the app is to include a way to include a standard deviation on the return While it s okay to assume an average rate of return the truth is that the return will vary significantly from year to year Therefore it would be nice to be able to say for example an average rate of return of 6 with a standard deviation of 10 This would be similar to Monte Carlo simulations that can be done on some retirement calculator websites                     Great App Very Thorough Matt Deepe

Not intuitive Not flexible and no real help The sinker is when you get it figured out and go for your third projection it hits you for more money I do not recommend this calculator     Watch out You only get two tries then it asks for more Greg41

Unless I am missing something there doesn t appear to be a method to input pension income which renders this app useless for me It s too bad since the rest of the app seems OK But don t waste your 4 99 if you need the ability to run scenarios with pensions         No room for pension input disappointing Good2GoMom

Best part is that it calculates including a spouse and so few calculators do that Also you have different scenarios like downsizing your home after retirement job etc There are different options to help you plan for your retirement not just see how you stand today                     Perfect and simple Regina40

While this is a fabulous app that works extremely well I think there may be a flaw in its methodology The app automatically increases your social security income by the inflation rate you optionally specify The app recommends that you use 3 25 as an annual inflation rate because that seems to be the pattern over the last 100 years Social Security is not going to increase like that every year I think the developer should approach social security in the same manner as a pension event where you can denote whether or not the income is tied to inflation and if not then allow for an optional cost of living percentage increase                 Excellent App ggildeme
